Dr. Bonachea brings more than 20 years of vitreo-retinal medical and surgical experienceis to NH Eye Associates. She is Board Certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Bonachea is also a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists, New Hampshire Medical Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology and the New Hampshire Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
She graduated summa cum laude from St. Louis University with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and earned her Medical Degree at Tufts University. Dr. Bonachea served her Ophthalmology residency and vitreo-retinal fellowship at Georgetown University Medical Center where she was elected Chief Resident. She served her internship in Internal Medicine at Washington Hospital Center.
Dr. Bonachea has undertaken research in the areas of retinopathy of prematurity, sickle cell retinopathy, diabetic retinopathy and endophthalmitis and presented her findings at national conferences. In 1994, she received a Retina Research Foundation/Lawrence Fund Fellowship Grant.
Dr. Bonachea's special interests are macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and surgical retina. She has staff privileges at the Elliot Hospital and Catholic Medical Center.
Nancy E. Bonachea, M.D. established Retina Vision Center in 2010.
